First introduced in September of 1963, Jaguar’s new S-Type was essentially a development of the Mark II combined with mechanical improvements from the Mark X, chief amongst which was Jaguar’s new independent rear suspension. Both 3.4 and 3.8-litre inline six-cylinder engines were offered, and the new S-Type provided more boot space and headroom, making for a much more luxurious car over its predecessor.
This S-Type boasts the desirable 3.8-Litre engine, along with a four-speed manual transmission, making for the perfect driver’s S-Type, delivery from new in Italy in 1966, renose plate Torino in 1985 and maked Asi silver plate. Furthermore, it is finished in the quintessential colour scheme of dark blue poly 20579 over a sumptuous red leather interior, perfect for a sporting yet stately British automobile. Updates were made throughout the car’s production run, and those present on this car include a larger servo and an all-synchromesh four-speed manual gearbox, which were both incorporated into production in 1966.
With the engine made famous in Jaguar’s XK150 and E-Types but offering space for four passengers and their luggage, the S-Type 3.8-Litre Saloon offers the perfect mix of performance and practicality.
